How to make clothes on a budget

Recently I’ve been thinking about making my own clothes, simply so that they are unique and so I can wear the perfect design for me.
I was hunting for Moomin fabrics and clothes on the internet after seeing this lovely baby dress:

But it’s all so expensive that my mind took a cunning path of making my own patterned fabric.
Now, I’ve done a bit of screen-printing before when I was studying for a foundation diploma in art and design. I quite enjoyed it actually…

So this is my plan:
To buy: Screen, squeegee, paint and textile medium, cheap tops, cheap dresses.
